The Story
Superbloc was co-founded by Tanya Lee and Cassidy Huang after years of searching for a DEET-free repellent that actually worked. Cassidy, the brand's formulator, spent two years alongside Tanya working with a Taiwan-based chemist to develop the company's 8% PMD spray. The CDC recognizes PMD as one of the few natural ingredients with efficacy comparable to DEET, which became the foundation of every product we make.
The Science
The active ingredient in Superbloc is PMD (para-menthane-3,8-diol), derived from the leaves of the lemon eucalyptus tree. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recognizes PMD as one of the few natural ingredients with efficacy comparable to DEET. Walter Reed Army Institute of Research is responsible for much of the foundational PMD efficacy research. At an 8% concentration in our formula, Superbloc has been lab-tested to deliver 6+ hours of mosquito protection.
Our formula is alcohol-free, water-based, with aloe and chamomile. Most natural repellents on the market use alcohol carriers that dry skin and require ages 3+. Superbloc is safe from 6 months because we built the formula specifically for sensitive skin from the start.
